The publication contains three waltzes composed by Juliusz Zarebski (1854–1885) in the years 1883–1885: Valse sentimentale op. 17, Valse-Caprice op. 24 and Valse op. 30. Zarebski's graceful, rather simple Waltzes op. 17 and 30 reveal their salon provenance.
Zarebski proposed in his works (especially in op. 17) very rich pedalling, often combining related harmonies and figurations following through neighbouring registers of the instrument. Due to differences in construction between 19th century and contemporary pianos, the musical effect of faithful application of the composer's pedalling would perhaps not correspond to his intentions - hence the proposals for additional changes to the pedal given in brackets. The edition also corrected textual errors of the first editions and proposed fingering.

This three-movement work was written after the passing of the composer's wife, Candy. The first movement (A Simple Peace) is based on a short piano prelude he composed for her when they were dating. The second movement (A Sorrowful Peace) seeks to put into music how he and their children felt shortly following her death. And the third movement (A Heavenly Peace) is adapted from an unaccompanied choral piece written when the composer thought of Candy in heaven, with instrumentation added to accompany the choir. This personal piece reflects the thoughts one man had while grieving.

String Quartet No. 2 begins and ends with musical ideas that were in the back of my mind in some form or other since my teens. In the process of moving house during 2020 I rediscovered some old minidiscs containing rough demo recordings Id made nearly two decades before. At that point I didn't yet know how to realise these ideas, but listening back much later I found the seeds of what has now developed into the two outer movements of the piece. Between them come the flowing interwoven patterns of the second movement and the slow third movement, which is a lament.
I think of this quartet as one of the most concentrated, personal and intimate pieces I have written. It is an outcome of my enduring need to communicate something that Im incapable of fully expressing with words. I would if I could. I know that it has something to do with love.

Prokofiev's Second Violin Sonata was originally a work for flute and piano. Composed in 1943, the Flute Sonata op. 94 immediately aroused the interest of violinist David Oistrakh, who suggested a violin version to Prokofiev. The composer consented and, together with Oistrakh, reworked the solo part for violin. The Sonata was issued in this form in Moscow in 1946; in the USA, it became known through an edition edited by Joseph Szigeti. The editor of our new Urtext edition is the violinist and musicologist Viktoria Zora, who has researched and written about Prokofiev's violin sonatas for many years. She has examined all the original sources in Russian and international archives. Thus, for the first time it has been possible to make a source-critical edition of the sonata that eliminates the many errors and ambiguities of earlier editions. The informative preface by the world's leading Prokofiev specialist Simon Morrison sheds light on the sonatas complex genesis.

The musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in his early youth studied violin with his father Leopold Mozart, who was a well-known violin pedagogue and author of an important treatise on violin playing. During his early childhood, Wolfgang was celebrated as a child prodigy, both on harpsichord and violin. While composing this concerto in 1775, the 19-year-old Mozart was concertmaster of the Salzburg Prince and Archbishops Orchestra. His duties included leading the orchestra and performing chamber music, as well as violin solos. It is likely that Mozart was the first performer of his Violin Concerto in G Major. This one-of-a-kind performance edition includes the Cadenzas of Leopold Auer, with fingerings and bowings by Jascha Heifetz protégé Endre Granat.
