Festival Music for a Crown Prince was composed by Shigeo Tohno, a nationally known Japanese composer and a prominent name in music education in Japan. FESTIVAL MUSIC was writen and performed for the wedding festivities of Crown Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko. Mr. Tohno depicts modern Japan by combining the melody of a traditional folk song with the style and beauty of ancient court music. He succeeds in capturing the spirit and imagination of present-day Japan while still retaining the atmosphere of the past.
